Individuals who prefer multi purpose vehicle (MPV) car rentals of models such as the VW Shuttle will this summer be able to get their hands on a van that is powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles plans to shake the market this summer with the introduction of the CNG-powered Caddy EcoFuel, which will be the only compact panel van in the UK to run on this fuel.
A larger Caddy Maxi EcoFuel that comes with an extra 1m³ of loadspace will also be launched simultaneously, bringing into the market "another practical, alternatively-fuelled choice for green-conscious" drivers.

Volkswagen says depending on how the Caddy EcoFuel is driven and the weight being carried, the vehicle can cover around 270 miles on its 26kg capacity of gas.

People interested in MPV or 4x4 car hire in London can also try out models such as the Chrysler Grand Voyager, Lincoln Town Car or the Mercedes Viano.
