A recent survey by Fleet News showed that the German manufacturer's BlueMotion badge was one of the most widely recognised in the UK, prompting the carmaker to list its best models with the badge.

Among the features in the vehicles are new technologies such as stop-start systems, regenerative braking, electric drives and hybrid systems.

For those interested in a bit of ground clearance, then maybe the Touareg V6 TSI Hybrid is the vehicle they should keep an eye out for.

This sports utility prototype is yet to go into production but when it does in 2010 it will come into the market boasting one of the highest performance parallel hybrid systems in the world.
