Luxury car manufacturer Volkswagen is all smiles after going home with three awards from this year's What Car? Awards, which have just been held at a London hotel.

Volkswagen car rental fans will be spoilt for choice if they want award-winners as the new Golf SE 1.4-litre, five door model, the Eos coupe convertible and the new Golf GTI all secured accolades.

The new Golf SE was named the Best Small Family Car, retaining the accolade for the Golf brand for the third consecutive year.

Also retaining its crown for the third year running was the Eos coupe convertible, which secured Best Open-Top Car for the year.

Rounding off the gong haul for the German carmaker was the new Golf GTI, which bagged the What Car? Reader Award for the most exciting new car of the year.

Chris Craft, the director of Volkswagen UK, welcomed the night's developments saying he was "proud that three of our key models have been honoured".

The new Volkswagen Golf was launched in the UK on January 6th.
