Top economical figures with Audi A3 hatchback
Dec 31 2009, 11:00 AM
There are many options on the market for motorists wanting a small hatchback, but those looking for the vehicle offering the best in the way of overall economy may want to edge towards the Audi A3.

Autocar highlights that the newest version of the A3 hatchback generates carbon dioxide emissions of less than 100g/km, while also allowing drivers to travel for 74.3 miles on a single gallon of fuel.

Numerous methods are used to help achieve these figures, while ensuring that performance on the road is not diminished from what is available with the standard Audi A3.

Improved aerodynamics and a reduced ride height help boost the car's economy, while the inclusion of a 1.6-litre diesel engine allows motorists to quicken to a top speed of 121 miles per hour.

In a review of the vehicle, What Car? commented positively on how well the vehicle will retain its price in the future when a motorist may want to drive something different.

"The A3 is a desirable, high-quality car and its strong residual values reflect this. It handles well and there are some fine engines available," the review noted.
