A new poll from the AA has highlighted the popularity of the sat-nav, which is considered the best device ever in a car, executive car rental fans and sports car hire enthusiasts may be interested to hear.
According to the poll, 54 per cent of respondents considered it the best device ever in a car with 61 per cent agreeing that their sat-nav had stopped them from getting lost countless times.

"Satellite Navigation systems are brilliant devices if used safely," said Edmund King, AA president. "A majority of those that have them think they are the best in-car device ever.

"These devices can enhance safety by reassuring drivers they are on the right route. Often roads are poorly signed so the sat-nav helps as a guide. However, the road atlas is still alive and well."

He went on to recommend that all car rental fans and other motorists should have an atlas to back up their sat-navs as "you don't want to end up in Stratford, East London if you really wanted the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon."

Men are more likely to own a sat-nav compared to women, the AA says.
