Prestige car hire users may be interested to hear that the new Rolls-Royce Ghost has made its debut in the Gulf.

The luxury car was unveiled in Qatar when Rolls-Royce Motor Cars opened a new showroom at the exclusive Pearl Island in Doha, a man-made island off the shore of the Arabian Peninsula.

Members of the Qatari business community were on hand to mark the occasion at the prestigious event.

"I am convinced that [The Pearl Qatar] is the ideal environment to house the pinnacle of luxury in the automotive market," commented Tom Purves, chief executive office of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

"Our presence on this exclusive venue reinforces the strategic importance of Qatar and the Middle East region to the future growth of Rolls-Royce."

Equipped with a new 6.6-litre turbocharged V12 engine and an eight-speed gearbox, the Ghost is capable of accelerating from standstill to 60mph in just 4.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 155mph.

The vehicle was recently showcased at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.
