Recession's end to lead to Jaguar sales rise
Jan 13 2010, 01:27 PM
Sales at Jaguar will return to old levels once an end is witnessed to the current global recession, it has been suggested.

Speaking to German magazine WirtschaftsWoche, David Smith, the boss of Jaguar Land Rover, revealed that only 65,000 vehicles were delivered in 2009, while 260,000 were sold across the whole line-up.

However, he is optimistic that last year's 30 per cent dip in sales will be improved upon, especially with the new Jaguar XF, set for release later this year, generating widespread interest, including 3,000 advance orders.

Mr Smith told the publication: "In the past, Jaguar built more than 100,000 vehicles per year. We can return to such levels once the crisis is over.

"We were profitable before the crisis broke out and we want to get there again as soon as possible."

Luxury in terms of its design and finish is what motorists can expect with the Jaguar XF, with features including interior mood lighting and Bond Grain leather seat facings.

Meanwhile, drivers additionally have the choice between three engines - a 3.0-litre V6 petrol unit, a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 3.0-litre V6 Diesel S offering.
