Jaguar Land Rover's new Range Rover model will feature a reconfigurable cluster platform equipped with multiple functions and operating modes supplied by global automotive specialist Visteon Corporation.
Available as standard in all derivatives of the model, which features on the
London car hire, the new system is designed to provide on-demand information through virtual gauges, graphical displays and a message centre.
The system developed for the 2010 Range Rover model range is the first featuring virtual cluster technology to be adopted by Jaguar Land Rover.
Nick Rogers, Range Rover's chief engineer in charge of new vehicle architecture, explained that the new display technology, which was developed in conjunction with the firm's engineers, "is a major advance".
"It gives us tremendous flexibility in presenting information, so that the driver gets precisely the data he or she requires, in all driving conditions."
