Prestige car hire manufacturer Bentley lines up powerful engine for its new flagship model
Apr 6 2010, 02:01 PM
Bentley's flagship luxury cruiser will not lack the power to go with its striking looks after the company released details surrounding the hand-assembled engine which will sit under the vehicle's bonnet.

The prestige car hire manufacturer will be utilising a revised version of the 6.75-litre V8 unit which was found in a number of the company's iconic cars including the Arnage and Azure models.

Motorists will be able to take advantage of the 505bhp that the engine produces, with it able to reach 60mph from standstill in just 5.1 seconds.

Phil Cooper, Bentley's senior production manager in the engine build workshop, claims that the engine provides the opportunity to use new technology alongside the hand-crafted skills which Bentley is famed for.

"Our new V8 takes nearly 30 hours to build and we never release an engine to our colleagues in the main build hall until we are literally prepared to put our name to it," he explained.

The Mulsanne was first unveiled to the world during the 2010 Detroit Motor Show.
