fans may be looking forward to enjoying the start of the Carrera Cup GB Championship this Easter weekend.

The first meet of the season kicks off at Thruxton, with a record 28-car field battling it out to take a share of the spoils at this early stage of the season.

A total of eight new drivers will be making their debut in the competition, which has been running for the last eight years and sees motorists compete in race-tuned 420bhp 911 GT3 Cup cars.

Porsche commented on the forthcoming race: "This is a fantastic endorsement of what is the fastest one-make racing category in Britain, and there will be fine competition across all three categories."

Following the meet at Thruxton, fans of the series will be able to follow the competition to Rockingham Motor Speedway, Northamptonshire, over the weekend of April 24th-25th.

Earlier this year, the manufacturer released a race-tuned Carrera GT3 for road-going motorists to take advantage of.
