Porsche car hire enthusiasts may be interested to note that there are advantages to the less powerful V6 Panamera.
Testing the vehicle for Auto Express, David Vivian draws attention to the car's "fine" engine, which improves both emissions and economy, compared to the V8 model.
In addition, Mr Vivian highlights the ride quality of the Panamera V6, with the lighter engine sitting further back in the car and improving the centre of gravity and weight distribution.
"There are more rewarding four-door performance cars for the money - although perhaps none which can match the Panamera's economy and low emissions," he noted.
"And the cabin is still beautifully designed and finished, spacious and a great place to be."
Performance is still impressive on the V6 car, with the sprint to 62mph from standstill achievable in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 160mph.
The four-door, four-seat luxury saloon vehicle was first introduced in 2009 at the Shanghai International Automobile Show.
