An upcoming addition to the Aston Martin marque of cars has exceeded expectations by surpassing the 200 miles per hour barrier during high-speed testing.
Under the guidance of the manufacturer's engineering team, the Aston Martin One-77 set the benchmark after a host of trial runs in secret tests in southern Europe in dry and windy conditions.
The two-seater sports coupe was aided in achieving the feat by the fitting of a 7.3-litre V12 engine, with further testing planned for early next year before deliveries are expected to commence midway through 2010.
However, motorists will have to be quick if they would like one of the vehicles - which also adopts new active aerodynamic technology and a carbon fibre monocoque body structure - as only 77 will be produced,
The Aston Martin One-77 was first fully revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, which took place in March this year.
Meanwhile, Aston Martin also introduced the DBS Volante at the show, with other cars on display including the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and the Porsche 911 GT3.
