Chinese luxury car hire and sports car rental fans will soon have a test of Italian motoring luxury and performance following news that Automobili Lamborghini plans to open a branch in China.

The Italian luxury sportscar manufacturer famous for car rental favourites such as the Gallardo and the Murcielago featured in Batman will establish Automobili Lamborghini China in the country's capital city Beijing.

According to the president of the company Stephan Winkelmann, the Chinese market holds a lot of potential and is strongly placed to become the leading economy in the world.

He said: "The development of wealth and the developing 'savoir-vivre' in China makes it one of the pivotal markets for Lamborghini's future growth.

"The decision to establish a branch in China illustrates our dedication to opening the potential of this market for Lamborghini."

Some 28 Lamborghinis were shipped to China in 2007 and this year the sales figures look set to record a rise of 186 per cent in light of the almost 80 models already sold.
