Land Rover's proposed LRX helped the prestige mark receive its first ever Concept Truck of the Year award.
The prize, which was presented at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Michigan, was awarded by a panel of automotive journalists.
Judges evaluated cars' design, style, materials, technology and market viability, and Land Rover's turbo diesel hybrid took the top spot.
"The LRX Concept is a glimpse into the future for Land Rover," said Chris Marchand, executive vice president, marketing and sales, Land Rover North America.
"New technology, environmental awareness and outstanding design are key elements in the success of the next generation of SUV's. To have the media bestow this great honour on the LRX Concept is a testament to the Land Rover team that participated in creating this vehicle."
Land Rover is popular with performance car hire customers and is continuing to expand its range of vehicles, recently announcing plans for a seven-seater.
