Land Rover earns Queen's Awards
Jun 30 2008, 03:59 PM
Prestige marque Land Rover has received two Queen's Awards for Enterprise.

The Graydon-based firm was given the accolades for its contribution to international trade and for its work in developing a system which enables the engine to best perform on any given terrain.

HM Lord Lieutenant for Warwickshire, Martin Dunne, presented Jaguar Land Rover chief executive officer David Smith with the two awards.

The Innovation award was given to the manufacturer popular with performance car hire customers for it patented Terrain Response System.

Land Rover's 52 per cent rise in export sales also earned to company an International trade award.

Mr Dunne said it was "remarkable" to be presenting two awards at the same time, with the only precedent he could recall being in 2001, when Land Rover was again the recipient.

He said: "This is a mark of recognition for something quite special by a team and not by one individual and there is a very strong team spirit here. This is a fantastic example of excellence becoming a habit."
