Land Rover has reported that last month was the most successful sales wise than any other in the company's illustrious 62-year history.

Land Rover car hire clients may be interested to know that the manufacturer was celebrating the sale of over 11,000 of its high-quality off-road vehicles in the UK during March.

The increase is a 67 per cent growth in comparison to the same month in 2009.

Phil Popham, managing director for Land Rover, claimed that the rise in sales could be attributed to the company's current award-winning model range, with the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery 4 and Freelander 2 performing strongly.

He explained: "It is the most efficient and technologically-advanced line-up of vehicles Land Rover has ever had, ensuring a continued demand for our brand.

"Land Rover UK has had an incredible start to 2010."

In addition to strong UK sales, the prestige brand has also performed strongly overseas, with global sales rising by 43 per cent during March.

Land Rover is said to be developing a new lighter and more luxurious Range Rover for introduction in 2012.
