IAM gives tips on driving on snow
Nov 24 2008, 03:46 PM
Roads will become increasingly dangerous as blizzards and plunging temperatures lead to treacherous driving conditions, luxury car hire and performance vehicle enthusiasts have been warned.

Driving in bad weather can be dangerous and the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has come up with a few tips motorists should adhere to in order to prevent any calamities.

Among them is ensuring both their vehicles and themselves are adequately prepared to and know how to cope with changing road conditions as well as taking it slow.

Switching on headlights increases chances of other drivers seeing you and using low gears helps keep traction, especially on hills, which can also help with stopping the car without braking, which may cause skidding.

Lincoln car hire fans should also be equipped with an emergency kit, which should include warm outdoor clothes, a reflective jacket, a torch, and a fully charged mobile phone, the IAM advices.

Last weekend saw parts of the UK register up to five inches of snow, which caused havoc for motorists.
