London prestige car hire enthusiasts may want to sample the new Lotus Evora, which has been described as "something special" by a leading motoring magazine.

According to Auto Express, the luxury vehicle, deliveries of which began taking place early this year, boasts "all the handling prowess you'd expect from a Lotus, with refinement to boot".

The magazine was impressed by the vehicle's performance and eco friendliness thanks to just 205g/km of carbon dioxide emissions and a zero to 62 mph acceleration time of about five seconds from standstill for the mid-engined 2+2.

Drawing power from a powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine, the vehicle is "already establishing itself as one of the most talented performance cars of the year".

According to the magazine, plans are underway to introduce an automatic derivative of the car as well as a roadster.

The Norfolk-based company earlier this month unveiled a special edition Lotus Elise Club Racer at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany.
