Chrysler unveils Dodge EV
Sep 29 2008, 10:32 AM
Chrysler has revealed an electric version of one of its most popular models which is expected to prove a hit with sports car fanatics.

Set to go on sale in 2010, the luxury Dodge EV sports car will be based on the design of the Lotus Europa.

The car will be capable of reaching 0 to 60mph in less than five seconds and can be charged up using an ordinary electric socket.

It has a top speed of around 120mph and can travel up to 200 miles on one four-hour charge.

As well as the Dodge model, the car manufacturer also unveiled other electric vehicles including the Jeep EV and the Chrysler EV.

"You're looking at a full line of electric vehicles, so one has to believe, has to understand that we've made huge commitments both from a resource standpoint and a financial standpoint," said Bob Nardelli, chief executive of Chrysler, told CNBC.
