The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate will get better with age, it has been claimed by one reviewer.
Writing on his blog for the Daily Mirror, Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has joined the long-list of car writers commending Mercedes-Benz' latest estate vehicle.
Executive car hire enthusiasts may be interested to know that he compared the car to an expensive pair of handmade shoes which would not have to be replaced for a lifetime.
Referring to both the top-of-the-range and entry-level models, Mr Hammond writes: "Either of them is the final car you'll need to buy - even if you're in your 30s. They are the equivalent of handmade shoes.
"I have too many cars already but having an E-Class estate around would be extremely useful. Bet they drive even better when you've worn them in, like good shoes."
Furthermore, he pays tribute to the class-leading load capacity the E-Class possesses, before stating that the ride quality was "comfortable".
Mercedes says that the estate model has been designed to give motorists a balance between practicality and elegance.
