clients may be interested in a new and unique service that the manufacturer is offering.

Customers of the German car giant who are interested in sampling the excitement of race driving will be able to book themselves on race commitments with the Audi R8 Le Mans team.

The "world first" experience will see motorists pitting themselves head-to-head with professional drivers as well as receiving training and getting the ability to obtain their own race licence.

Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Audi's head of motorsport, said: "As far as I know, Audi is the first car manufacturer in the world to offer such a program.

"This shows yet again how innovative and progressive the Audi brand is … the Audi R8 LMS … is a very forgiving GT3 car is perfectly suited for this project which we fully support on the part of Audi Sport."

The marque recently announced its full racing line up for the 2010 DTM racing season, with Spaniard Miguel Molina becoming its youngest ever factory driver.
