Prestige car manufacturer BMW Group has been declared Energy Saving Trust's Fleet Hero for the second consecutive year.

The company was named Industry Supplier at the conservation organisation's Fleet Hero Awards in recognition of its contribution to helping businesses make their fleets more efficient.

Models such as the recently announced BMW 320d EfficientDynamics, which produces just 109g/km of carbon dioxide, helped the executive car manufacturer scoop the award.

Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, praised BMW for winning the accolade, saying its efforts need to be emulated.

"The Fleet Hero Awards highlights those who have not only taken steps to help the environment but also to save money and resources. This is a great example for others to follow," he commented.

BMW recently unveiled the next-generation 5-Series Saloon featuring Auto Start-Stop technology for the first time in the range.

The executive car also comes equipped with the award-winning EfficientDynamics technology as a standard feature.
