BMW eyeing first Grand Prix win
Mar 28 2008, 05:21 PM
BMW Sauber's Formula One team has made an impressive start to the season and the team is confident it will make its first Grand Prix win.

Following two second place finishes in the first two races of the year, in Melbourne and Malaysia, motorsport director Mario Thiessen, claimed the goal of a first spot on the podium was a possibility.

He said: "We have not yet tapped our car's full potential, therefore I'm confident that we will be able to achieve the goal we've set ourselves for the 2008 season: to close the gap to the top teams and to secure our maiden Grand Prix win."

Favourites Mercedes McLaren and Ferrari each won one of the first two races, with Lewis Hamilton storming to a opening race victory and Kimi Raikkonen taking the night-time race in Malaysia.

But it was BMW's Nick Heidfeld who raced around the track to set the fastest lap time under the lights.
