The most powerful diesel engine ever produced by German car manufacturer
BMW has been unveiled and may bode well with London
executive car hire enthusiasts because of its attributes.
Available for delivery from September, the 740d boasts a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine offering improved fuel economy and emissions and "heralds the latest technological leap for the 7 Series", according to the carmaker.
BMW states that the model provides "a smooth yet suitably rapid method of transport, while merely sipping at its fuel tank" thanks to an all-aluminium crankcase and third generation common rail fuel injection system.
BMW car rental aficionados will be able to propel themselves from standstill to 62 mph in just 6.3 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph in the car.
The carmaker's award-winning EfficientDynamics technologies coupled with piezo injectors and the unique way the twin turbochargers work give the model the impressive performance.
A new
BMW 316d ES Saloon, which is cleanest 3 Series ever, was also unveiled last week.
