Bentley car owner forked out thousands of pounds to get his hands on a priced Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) personal registration plate as he was "determined to keep it in British hands".
The Berkshire-based millionaire yesterday (January 29th) paid £113,815 for the registration 1 HRH at an auction in Northampton, luxury car hire and executive car rental fans may be interested to hear.
Also the owner of a Rolls Royce Phantom, the individual who wished to remain anonymous said he not only purchased the plate as an investment but also for its royalty slant.
He said: "In my mind, there aren't many registrations that can better 1 HRH. While I bought it as an investment, its obvious royal links made me determined to keep it in British hands."
"We received immense interest in 1 HRH and we are delighted at the sum raised, especially given the tough current economic climate," said DVLA personalised registrations marketing manager Damian Lawson.
Bentley will unveil a new model with "supercar performance" next week.
