Many motorists often prefer a diesel model over a petrol because of the positive impact it has on their wallets, but this may not be the case for those interested in an Audi A3 and who only use their car sparingly.
According to Julian Kirk in a review for Fleet News, the Audi A3 1.4 TFSI petrol model not only is far more reactive than its diesel counterpart, but is also cheaper up until 22,058 miles are on the clock.
He made his judgement after also testing the Audi A3 1.6 TDI diesel model, which felt "leaden and unresponsive" in comparison.
However, motorists have a decision to make as the diesel does offer substantial benefits in terms of fuel economy and the reduced generation of carbon dioxide, despite its slightly superior price.
Mr Kirk concludes that the petrol model could be ideal for those who cover a low annual mileage, as it will still work out cheaper and they get the additional benefit of an improved performance.
There are a number of additional practical features to the Audi A3 range including a parallel park assistance system, which assumes control of the steering wheel when sensors find a space large enough to fit the vehicle.
