clients may be pleased to hear that the manufacturer underlined its racing credentials with a podium finish at the Le Mans season opener.

The marque finished second overall in the race, which took place at the French Le Castellet circuit.

It represents Aston Martin's second consecutive podium so far this year and serves as testament to the quality of the 009 LMP1 race car that the team is using for this season.

Aston Martin team chairman David Richards revealed that the result had put them in a good position ahead of the full 24-hour Le Mans race in June.

He added: "Yet another faultless performance by the team, consolidating Aston Martin as the leading petrol car in the Le Mans Series."

Earlier this year, Aston Martin finished third after a gruelling 12-hour race around the Sebring circuit in the US.

Meanwhile, the next race in the series will be taking place in Long Beach, California, next weekend.
