Sports car hire fans may be interested in reports that Mercedes-Benz is planning to expand its range over the next three years.

Autocar has reported that the manufacturer will be introducing new vehicles to its high-performance SLK fleet, with the first of the new models making its debut next year.

According to the news provider, the cars will fit in with the change of direction that Mercedes-Benz has taken in terms of design.

This means that motorists can expect to see a large, trapezoidal front grille, as seen on the recently launched SLS AMG supercar and the F800 Style Geneva Motor Show concept.

In addition, the car's rear spoiler and interior styling will take cues from other vehicles in the prestige marque's range.

"Our first glimpse inside the cabin reveals that the dashboard architecture, centre console and air vents closely follow the design of the SLS's," Autocar reported.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the current SLK has been designed with a focus on aerodynamics, with its steep windscreen and well-positioned front spoiler helping to cut through the air efficiently.
